Last year I went (initially against my better judgement) to see a 1980′s group of bands playing. Kid Creole and the Coconuts, Kim Wilde, Clare Grogan … and Howard Jones Some of the acts were definitely not my preferred tipple but Clare Grogan and Howard Jones were utterly amazing and I was shocked that I had lived (albeit at fairly minor years) through that decade and somehow missed them.

Marina, my girlfriend found a small country festival where Howard was playing along with Haircut 100 and it was awesome to see him with his own band and really showing what he was capable of. I appear to have become one of those deranged fans who follow a chosen musician around like some unhinged stalker :) I even joined the fan forum!

Here are some photos… Outdoor gig photography is so much easier than indoor events as the light (even though fading fast) gave you so much more room to manoeuvre.

Either way, the bad workman blames his tools of course which is not entirely fair as I was stuck in one position only (luckily at the front) and could not get to the good positions enjoyed by the press. Also the fading light meant I had to shoot in high ISO and my Nikon D80 is not as good as its older siblings at handling noise levels, none of which was my fault.

However, I am now resigned, if I am going to improve I need to have one these badboys!

I really am just not a blogger type person.

I never kept a diary when I was younger and I find it hard to find things to type about. This is compounded by the fact that I find most online tools inherently confusing (especially the ones that claim to be user friendly).

I have neglected this site in favour of my deviant art account for several months.

Having streamlined its purpose (just photography and no geek), things will hopefully rattle along more smoothly.

and Another new Blog thing …

Content management systems really are the most unfriendly things going. Anything which takes you away from its purpose and demands more time spent trying to figure out the underlying mechanisms is an example of something bad. Now for geeks I am sure the argument is completely different. However for a person with interests in other areas it is just bad. I tried three heavy weight CMS’s (Content Management Systems) ~ Drupal, Joomla and PHPWebsite and light weight one called FrogCMS. Each proved a complete nightmare. So i’m going to try WordPress – I know it is a blog and not a CMS. However I am the only user and so far it is far more intuitive to use.

As usual I have no idea what to put here. My site is principally geared towards photographs, aspects of design and Urban exploration. I am linking to my Flickr account where I list all my urban photos (mainly bunkers at the moment) and my DeviantArt account which has more arty farty stuff.
